Michael Hegglin

Michael Hegglin was born in the small Swiss town of Zug on Lake Zug. After attending school and pursuing numerous other activities there, he later lived—excepting short stays in various places—in Zurich and in Mexico. After studies in German and Latin American literature, philosophy and history, he went on to learn the craft of filmmaking in an autodidactic, experimental manner. He then co-founded and worked for Swiss Television’s news magazine program 10vor10. Thereafter he returned to work in Mexico as a correspondent for Latin America before once again settling in Europe, where (alongside cooking) he devoted himself to his favorite pastime, documentary filmmaking. Today, Michael Hegglin lives with his family in Zurich.
