Susanne Brandstätter
From 1983 on, she works as a steady free-lancer for the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation (ORF), produces and narrates a live weekly radio program for seven years, makes numerous radio and TV shorts. Beginning 1987 she shoots in-house documentaries for ORF. At the same time, she writes and publishes short stories and poetry, organizes festivals for ORF, creates and coordinates exhibitions. From 1996 on, she devotes herself solely to documentaries. Since 2002, Susanne Brandstätter works as an independent filmmaker and producer. In 2002/2003 she attends the Eurodoc production program and in 2005 the Discovery Campus Masterschool. For her first production as a free-lance filmmaker, Checkmate, she's awarded a Romy in 2005. For her documentary feature film Rule of Law, she receives the Vienna Film Award 2007 for the best Austrian film of the year. Susanne Brandstätter lives and works in Vienna, Austria.
